Day 306~366

So on we go into November, and this month I am getting out my crystal balls and will be using them in my photography.  But first, I had a little fun last night with the trick or treaters who came to the house, and swapped a photograph for a treat.

Halloween 2016

I do this every year and the kids are great round here, smiley and nice and polite. I don’t know any of them and most are with parents. So far no-one has given me grief for taking their kids pics,  but then most of the kids are in disguise!

Also I thought I’d share a photo of Skye that I took this morning. She’s doing OK, a bit sicky now and then, but still eating and having cuddles and being a pest. I try not to think about what’s to come.

And so onto the Crystal Ball Files! I have 4 of different sizes so will be having some fun with this!

Day 305~366

‘Hells Bells Frego! What on earth’s going on?’
“I’m off out trick or treating with Mego, Clego and Bego. And I think Skego is coming too. Do you like my costume?
‘Umm well, yes I guess. You do know this is our last day together don’t you?’
“Of course I do, why?”
‘Well I just thought we’d spend our last evening together, you know, just me and you and Skego, have a couple of drinks, watch a spooky movie and have Pizza or something’
“Oh no, I’d much rather be out having fun with my pals, might see you when I get back, but don’t wait up.”
*sigh*

Day 304~366

“Whatcha doing Fraggle?”
‘I’m making soul cakes for my photo for the Sunday Challenge group, it’s Halloween tomorrow and that’s the theme.’
“What happens to them after the photo?”
‘I’ll give them to the trick or treaters tomorrow night’
“Can I have one?”
‘If you’re nice to me’
“Forget it!”

The Sunday Fraggle report~ bits and bobs

Here we are at the end of October and beginning of November and only 54 days til Christmas :). So as well as my days out and travels, of course there have been incidental bits and bobs to catch along the way.

At the beginning of the month I travelled to the Scottish Border land to see a client in a little seaside village called Eyemouth, and took a few shots with my Eyephone 🙂 It was a lovely blue sky day, with lots of shadows and contrasts.

We had a couple more blue sky days before it all went a bit meh, and I got a couple of the trees around where I live..

and that was the last of the nice days. So of course I then had to resort to taking pictures of the cats.

Milky Mouth

Storm absolutely loves cat milk, I’ve never given cats milk before, only water, but this is special milk made for cats and they were brought up with it by the previous owner so we give them a little for a treat now and then.

We had a visit from our grandson..

You may remember from a previous bits and bobs, that Phil’s socks clone themselves in my washing machine,  while I discovered mine halve themselves, not a pair amongst them!

I bought a new Salt & Pepper set when I was on the ferry back from Holland,

One of the blogs I follow is a cartoonist called Tony, who is currently putting up collector cards of his characters..he’s very funny and you can check his site out HERE

I wanted to show the before and after pictures of our new patio in the back garden, but rain has prevented the builder chaps from completing it as yet, so that will have to be in November’s bits and bobs. It’s looking fab so far.

And yesterday was halloween! I carved a pumpkin, got lots of sweeties in for the trick & treaters, and then took pictures of them all when they came to the door.

First though my lovely hairdresser Kendal came over to do bits to me..

Weekend Doon Sooth

Have been down south, first visiting my pal Helen in Biggleswade. I love Helens home, it is full of dogs & chickens and quirky items so I took some photos indoors and in the garden.

As the evening came Helen and I went out with our cameras to catch some autumnal colour and the sunset. I took some shots from the car window as we travelled.

I left Helens on Saturday morning and travelled down to Leighton Buzzard to visit Ben & Lewis. Lewis wanted to go on a boat on Wirren Lake at Milton Keynes so off we went to the park and the lake.

We did quite well at peddling out into the lake, unfortunately the wind was quite strong, the rudder didn’t work too well and we couldn’t get the damn thing to turn round to head back in land. It got quite stressful trying to steer, and I got a BIG headache when I was peddling really hard (must get fitter!!!) so we ended up waving our arms in the hope of being rescued, and just drifted on the lake  in the hope we wouldn’t crash into the water skiers. Luckily (?) there were 2 young lasses in another peddle boat who were having the same problem, so they were yelling and waving their arms about, and the chap in charge came out in a speedboat to tow them first, and us second back to dry land. Lewis was well impressed with the speedboat ride, as was I!

Nice view on the lake though 🙂

Anyway, now I’m back home, and have a week off, got lots of things to get sorted, and hopefully if the weather isn’t wet, can get out and about for some more togging.

a little catching up to do

Haven’t been taking many photo’s of late, have been thwarted by the flu, the weather, life in general.  I did manage to sit and have lunch by the sea one afternoon, and took a series of people walking past the gap in the dunes, which amused me as I was sitting in the car at the time, had a Warhol moment 🙂

On one of my client visits I went by Ludworth Tower, I have shot this before but had another go as it may just fall down one day though it was built in 1422, so nearly 600 years this wall has been standing. Also I liked the crow sitting on it 🙂 I do like crows.

I joined a colour wheel project over on Ipernity and the first colour we had to do was Pink, so I dragged Phil out one evening and we went up to St.Mary’s Lighthouse as I knew it was being lit up pink every night in October for breast cancer awareness. As it happened the sky was doing it’s own pink thing too, but we were bliddy cold with the wind coming off the sea.

Last night Phil and I went out on a date, dinner and the cinema, dinner at MacDonalds lol, it filled a hole, as Phil says, and we were pushed for time so cheap and cheerful.

then onto Cineworld where we watched Fury, a war movie starring Brad Pitt in a tank.

Cineworld

The movie was 2 hrs 15mins and it was OK, not a patch on Saving Private Ryan, which is still our benchmark war movie, but it was fun, and I don’t mind looking at old Brad for a couple of hours. However the seats in our cinema leave a lot to be desired, I was SO uncomfortable, my bum hurt and I couldn’t wait to get out.

Also yesterday I had to make a ‘spooky’ photo for the Sunday challenge group, and so faffed on in photoshop with a picture I took in May back in the States, at Rochester cemetary,

and this is what I did with it

Steep learning curve to turn day into night! 🙂

Today have been back to work, the weather is meh, and the A1 Western bypass is just godawful with roadworks, as they’ve decided to widen it which is going to take forever. I had to go both up and down it today, and each journey of 6 miles took an hour!!! Fedupski me or what. I heard on the local radio that the whole North East is full of bliddy roadworks all over, and I can attest to that, it’s making my work life even more grim than it is normally 😦

IMG_3243
A1 Western bypass.

Well more of that to come for a while so I’ll just have to suck it up and leave earlier when going Northwest.

Books I’m reading..still going with the Jack Reacher series, really enjoying these books by Lee Child, on number 15 now, think there is 4 more to go.

TV..started watching The Knick, really good as its about surgery -“A look at the professional and personal lives of the staff at New York’s Knickerbocker Hospital during the early part of the twentieth century”. And Clive Owen stars, someone else I can happily look at for a couple of hours 🙂 The surgery bits were really well done, as an ex – operating theatre sister I was very impressed with the realism.

Am supposed to be going down south again next weekend to see Helen then on to see Ben & Lewis, but I have a huge tax bill to pay which is going to wipe me out, so not sure yet if I’ll make it 😦 life huh, does have it’s challenges now and then. Well quite often really. So fingers xt for a good sales week this week, and a lottery win would be good too.

Halloween

Every Halloween I get a pumpkin hung up outside the door, a bag of sweeties inside by the door, and don my witches hat to answer it when the kids come round trick or treating. My ‘price’ for the sweets is they have to have their photo’s taken, and I love seeing all the costumes nd smiley faces. I was a bit late home from work this year to get many, but here are the ones I got, plus my pumpkin 🙂
