The Fraggle Report ~ Flora & Fauna

Apart from my weekend outings to fascinating places, I’ve still been going to work and taking pictures when I get chance, the cats still strike a good pose now and then, and hubby still buys me flowers to photograph as a surprise. So here are a few non-historic bits and bobs before I move on to the day trip to the Farne Islands. The cats are thriving, sort of, when they’re not puking up, which is a common occurrence. They drive us mad mostly, we are not used to such needy beings! Cats are supposed to be self sufficient more…

cats and polaroids

Just a quickie, am practicing a lot for my SX70 Project so here are a couple from my latest batch, the cats of course… Storm moved just as I pressed the shutter, and the light caught her left eye in a weird way and so this makes me laugh. Skye is sulking because we attached a lovely pink and sparkly collar to her as she has started wandering outside and we don’t want anyone to think she is a neglecterino. Had to catch Storm sunbathing in my bathroom 🙂 laters gaters 😉

The Sunday Fraggle Report

No days out or gigs or parties to attend this week, so back to flowers and landscapes and cats! I have been practicing with my Fuji macro lens on a houseplant one of my lovely clients gave me in the week. I have no idea what it is but noticed it has little stalks which produce drops of water, which I tried to get a shot of, but they are really tiny. The flowers and buds have curly bits at one end, and pointy bits at the other. The leaves are quite special too. So if anyone recognises the plant, let…

The Sunday fraggle report

A busy weekend this weekend as on Saturday night I went out to a surprise party for Phil’s daughter Shelley. Her friend Sam organised a joint baby shower/birthday party for Shelley and we all turned up at The Avenue pub in Sunderland before Shelley arrived. I had picked up Phil’s sister Annette and Karly ( Phil’s daughter-in-law) and Karly’s daughter Katie, and was ready with the camera when Shelly arrived. I didn’t do too well with the Fuji in this situation so am going to have to figure out what went wrong. Think I had ISO stuck on A so…

The XT1 cat report

I think I’ll have to do a separate blog for these ladies, they are such excellent subjects to practice on.  I used the fixed 35mm lens and also tried out the B&W film setting in the XT1 as a jpeg and not in lightroom, highlights were a bit bonkers considering she was in a shady room and the light was coming from the kitchen window a good way from her. Had to slide the slider right down, which isn’t so effective on a jpeg as RAW obviously. I think there are settings in the camera to clip the highlights and…

The Sunday Fraggle report~cats n kids edition

This weekend we were going to have a quiet one, not wanting to freak the cats anymore than they were, but on Saturday Carl came for a visit with his two youngest, Matty and Liv, and the cats were not phased at all, came down to see what was going on, and as Matty & Liv come from a 2 cat home, they weren’t bothered with them either. Matty & Liv are quite bonkers and funny, and I tried the XT1 out on them.   Today we had Shelley and Cal over, and the cats were fine again in spite…

The Sunday Fraggle report~pussy cat edition

Back before I started this blog, I had 2 gorgeous ginger Toms, brothers, who had sadly died earlier in that year, 2012. They were great cats, full of personality and Phil and I loved them to bits. Herky was a big scaredy cat, a bit needy and scared of everybody he didn’t know, and most people he did know too 🙂 but was loving and affectionate with us, he used to love sitting on Phils knee to have strokey rations when Phil was trying to be on the computer. Yoyo was a feisty little character and not scared of anything…
