Seaham ~ May 2018 ~ part 2

Part 1 HERE

Let’s have a wander around the harbour and beach first.

There was a boat removal going on while we were there

having a paddle in the sea

Come in No.10 your time is up!

Everyone found it entertaining

The Audience

The beach was clean and not too packed,

Far From the Madding Crowd

The Madding Crowd (1)

The Madding Crowd (2)

Seaham’s Lighthouse was built in 1905 to mark the town’s north breakwater. The cylindrical metal tower is painted in an alternating black and white pattern and is 10 meters in height.  A green light is shown from the glazed lantern at the top of the tower, which gives a single flash every 10 seconds or in bad weather shows a fixed green light. The tower also holds a Fog Horn which gives a blast every 30 seconds in periods of low viability. So glad I don’t live next to that!

Actually that’s a big fat lie, when the weather kicks off here Seaham lighthouse is the place to be with a camera, check this out a couple of minutes of this film by Ian Britton,

On the way back up the hill from the beach, we saw some more madding crowd coming down,

Don’t worry lad, you’ll grow into it!

Sorceror and apprentice.

In Seaham, towels are the new must-have jackets.

That’ll do for today, stay tooned folks!

Teeside Nature Reserve~2017~part 3

After walking through the meadows we got to the coastal side of the reserve, and the mouth of the river Tees

of course there were doggies

Fetch!

came across a washed up crab whilst looking for sea glass

and we wandered up to the pier to take some shots of the sea which was a beautiful blue and green

After, we walked back to the car, and went off to see the seals at the appropriately named Seal Sands, and they’ll be the next post so

stay tooned!

Day 328 & 329~366

Yesterday was cold but at least wasn’t raining when I finished work, so as I was in South Shields seeing a client, I hopped over to Little Sandhaven beach and took some shots with the ball.

and I took some non-ball shots

full strength but couldn’t fit it all in my frame

day329-9-copy

so got out the phone and did a quick video

I didn’t post last night as the cat hasn’t been all that well, and needed a  lot of cuddle time. We are thinking this might be the beginning of the end as she hasn’t been eating, or doing anything much but sitting or lying in front of the microwave, and I am quite down with it all.  Today she’s at least eating stuff now, but still a bit sedate, don’t think we’ve got much time left with her, and I don’t feel like taking photo’s. So this is today’s shot, such as it is.

Day 217~366

We had sunshine for a few hours today before the howling wind and rain fell upon us this evening, so this afternoon I sallied forth to the coast at South Shields, with the fuji, in search of colour.

But I found horses too!

and my shot of the day.

Red, yellow and blue
In traditional color theory (used in paint and pigments), primary colors are the 3 pigment colors that can not be mixed or formed by any combination of other colors. All other colors are derived from these 3 hues.

Day 188~366

We had blue skies and sunshine for a while this morning, only lasted a couple of hours but it was enough for me to get to the coast and hunt for some sea~glass and take some pictures. At last!

day188-8w

day188-10w

The colour of the sky was reflected in the sea, it was a gorgeous blue today, I haven’t  tweaked that in photoshop!

This is the Harbour, at Littlehaven Beach, I come here a few times, but this is the first time I’ve seen the tide so far out, and it left behind some treasures!

Day 185~366

I went down to the coast today to do a shot for t he sunday challenge group, with the theme of ‘ephemeral’ and was also hoping for some sunshine for a shadow shot.  Fat chance. Cloudy all day 😦 I got my shots for the group, and added a sunny feel to them in Photoshop 🙂

so this evening a lot of farting about with ‘creative lighting’. Tried to get the cat to co-operate but she was a PIA and I gave up in favour of Sideshow Bob, who was less recalcitrant.

Day 55~366

From Sunderland yesterday to North Shields & Whitley Bay today. Another clear sunny sky, and first to North Shields where I had to drive past the south Air Vent for the Tyne Tunnel, I thought it looked quite cool in B&W

day55

at lunch time I parked by St Mary’s lighthouse and took a shot of the beach, got a ginormous sun flare,

day55-3w

and I parked next to a building site later on and spotted this chap

day55-2w

I like the air vent best so that’s my daily!

Day 54~366

I was working in Sunderland today, managed a couple of pictures. Firstly I stopped for lunch in a carpark and saw a Mum and her teenager on top of a car,

day54gw

Later in the afternoon I had to park up on the sea front at Seaham, while I waited for a client to get home from her bowling match, it was a bit wild and windy, so just took a couple of shots.

The beach

day54-2w

and the safety belt,

day54999w

Think I like that one most, so that is for the daily shot!

Day 39~366

Managed a 15 minute lunch break by the sea at South Shields today, and had my camera with me so took a few shots and liked this one best. I processed this one myself using the B&W sliders in LR, and played with them until I liked how it looked.

day39w

When I got home, Mr.Pie was sitting on our garden fence, so I took a shot of him too 🙂
