Did Desmond Tutu really say that? It’s brilliant if he did. It made me laugh out loud.

So, Hexam 2012. I hate those kind of bicyclists. The road racing “pros” who train on the road. They never obey the laws of the road, they create hazards and if they’re in a pack, they NEVER ride single file but take up the whole lane. I am particularly bitter because for about 8 years I had to deal with that situation every summer when driving to work. Grrrrrrr……
On the other hand, growing up having a bicycle was one of the things that gave me the most freedom. Once I hit highschool I started bicycling to school so I wouldn’t have to take the bus. It was a great way to work off all that energy 😀

I am not keen on the Hexam types either, we call them Mamils (middle aged men in Lycra) 😀

The bicycle reached perfection when someone bolted an engine to it.

An ode to the bicycle! How cool. I love the York picture! Very very beautiful. The citation about a bike being a better option then a husband I hid from my wife! (Darn, I think she found it…. 😮) Although I love the cow in the picture I’m not completely sure about the location it was made. The words on the billboards are definately Dutch. Great post Fraggle!

Good selection of quotes and photos, FR. I once rode my 5-speed racing bike from London to Brighton. (I was only 15 at the time.) I came home by train though, with the bike in the guard’s van. I had a folding commuter bike for a while when I lived in London, it was scary to ride in that traffic. I brought it to Norfolk, but it was even scarier here with big lorries going past me at 65mph. I gave it to one of my stepdaughters, and she rides it to and from work still.
Best wishes, Pete.

A lovely collection of quotes and pictures. I actually dragged out my own bike as part of my snake prepping garage clean up and you inspired me to fill up the flat tires and take it for a spin before the rain came yesterday.

I am gonna fight that guy Gary Rossington and his bodyguards by the bicycle racks 🤬 , Marilyn Manson’s Resident Evil soundtrack has made this world a better place.
Thank you for the two wheeled voyage, fragglerocking. I have to admit that bicycles put me a bit nervous to use but not to watch. Do you have bicycles?

The picture of the high bicycle from the Beamish Museum made me think of one of my favorite TV shows growing up, The Prisoner. That was the first time I ever saw such a tall cycle – didn’t know they existed at all until then.
