Part 1 HERE Part 2 HERE Part 3 HERE
Coming to the end of our day out now and first off some WW1 Nurses
There were quite a few horse-drawn buggies with WW1 re-enactors driving them
as well as the odd motor vehicle
and a genuine WW1 airplane, though it might need some restoration yet
We had lunch in one of the cafe’s
and rode on this bus to take ‘aerial’ shots 🙂
They had some horses ploughing fields
and I used my telephoto to take some pictures of the horses and owners

Chocolate Chip Cookies (the horse pinched one 🙂 )
When we got off the bus we stood and watched everyone and everything go by
but mostly I just loved all the horses
and that’s about it, except for my award for most appropriately dressed person of the day goes to…
Well if you’ve got it, flaunt it! 😀
So that’s the end of our trip to Beamish this time, there’ll be others I’m sure as they have a lot of events on, and once you buy your ticket, you can go as many times a year as you want.
All pictures can be clicked on to embiggen where they look even better cos you can see more stuff in them. 🙂
The full album (which has a fair few more photo’s) can be found HERE
Stay tooned for the next adventure!
Fun times. Love that WWI cell phone for calling taxis. We have a B17 that flew into town and we went out and crawled around in it.

A terrific adventure, Fraggle. I loved all the photos, but I’m amazed my the clarity of the telephoto shots. Wow. That cookie pinching horse looks delightfully smug! Hugs.

Hilarious–Madame Formidable on her cell and the nurses eating their hamburgers. Is your Fuji a high-resolution camera? Your shots are crystal clear.

Thanks Cindy, my Fuji is a good camera but it’s the lenses that give the clarity so I buy ‘good glass’ as they say.

Can’t beat a ‘proper’ lens!
Great shots again, that place really delivered. I love the juxtaposition of the people dressed as WW1 characters using mobiles, and eating fast food. And rounding off with the bum cheeks was inspired indeed! 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Amazing pictures! I love the one of the woman in period costume with her cell phone. Ha ha! Kind of ruins the illusions. ;p
And who DOESN’T love the horses? Beautiful creatures!

I love all the little anachronisms you’ve caught – the embiggened photos are like a where’s waldo except i’m searching for hints of 2018.

I was trying to work out which period Madame Formidable was representing, but it seemed to be a mixed bag, not just because of the mobile.
How lovely to spend a day with so many horses about.

Think she’s near as damn it in Victorian garb but it’s not the best.

I think the different bits come from different periods of the nineteenth century and the hat is decidedly modern in comparison.

Star Trek ‘The Voyage Home came to mind when I saw the WWI mobile phone 🙂 Love the whole series of pictures, some lovely horses (with feet) or would that be hocks? The little pit pony is Malinas favourite 🙂

I see the prices at the cafe didn’t reflect the authenticity of the day.

I am generally not much for museums, but this one looks like a great museum to visit. As always you show captivating images of your trip.

We really must make it to Beamish sometime – I KNOW it’s excellent. Your photos are just superb – great composition and so clear. And they really made an effort, didn’t they? Loved Madame Formidable – less certain about the refugee from the Bigg Market at the end 🙂

It’s worth checking out the event section of their website, there’s sometimes war related events, usually a classic car event which is fab, and quite a lot of stuff for young’uns which we tend to avoid 🙂
