  1. I like this – especially the rocking horses! Makes me think of the Manor at Hemingford Grey – home of the Children of Green Knowe (and one of my all time favorite books).

  2. I enjoyed the continuing tour, FR, especially the golden bat!
But the wine bottles in the cellar were all empty! What use is that?
Perhaps they don’t trust the visitors.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. Those were the empties, kept as souvenirs as some of them cost in excess of £10 grand, but Sir Humphrey believes in drinking them apparently 😊

Lots of good pictures – you managed to capture the darkness without sacrificing picture.

  5. The portable loo: for people who really, really don’t like using ones others have used before them.

  8. Thank you. I suppose it is difficult to “furnish” a place that has been used for so long. That, I suspect explains the quirky stuff. However, I am at a loss as to how to explain the empty bottles in the wine cellar. Is there no consideration to authenticity? Or, did the tourists imbibe?
    Warmest regards, Ed

    1. The Lord of the manor drank them, some of them cost a lot of money and he kept the bottles as souvenirs 🙂

  9. I’m trying to decide between Mick Jagger’s tub and that portable loo. Both would make great conversation pieces! (And they’d be useful, too!)
