The Sunday Fraggle report~SeaLife edition

The horrible weather has been very horrible this week, culminating in Storm Desmond on Friday and Saturday. 70mph gusts of wind and rain, not too good for photography.  On Wednesday I had to travel to Scotland, but didn’t get inspired to take many photos.

It’s grim oop north

Came across a telephone box though, always like to collect shots of these,

This weekend we have had our grandson Cal to stay over while his Mum & Dad had a trip away for Dad’s birthday. We like to take Cal out, so in spite of Storm Desmond, off we went to Sea Life in Tynemouth. It was so windy it was hard to walk, but once inside it was OK. First thing we did was to feed Cal ..

and then went in to see the fish. I gave Cal my Nikon S1 and he and Grandad also took some shots.

The lighting inside is not great, and you can’t use flash, so lots of rubbish shots, but did get a few nice ones,

There is a glass tunnel to walk under where the fish swim all around and above..

they also have an ‘amazon’ section with marmosets and a cotton top tamarind

We caught feeding time with the otters, it was really dark in the otter house, and neither my fuji or the nikon could cope with the combination of low light and rapidly moving otters, so I used the Nikon with flash and got told off by one of the animal keepers. Bad Fraggle. Don’t think I did any damage to the otters and they didn’t give a poo.

We went to see the sealions which have a huge play park and they shoot around it so fast it was really hard to get a shot.

And you can see them outside too.

but it was too cold and windy for Cal so we went and had another cuppa, and got him some toys for his bath time

and then we took a selfie as we left 🙂

  1. Wow, what fantastic shots Fraggy , I’d never guess you were having a storm, I can tell Cal had a blast, what good g’parents. I love your shots at sea world. One of my favorite places to go, when I’m on a proper vacation. (More than an over niter ). I’m always delighted when you give Cal your camera. You just might make Him famous yet;)

    1. Yes they are, but lots have been discontinued and removed, mobile phones killed them off, so I like to snap them when I find one, I’ll do a post one day when I find enough 😊 this one has seen better days.

  2. Fun in crappy weather – sometimes you just have to make your own. Sounds like you had a great time with everyone – and you did get some fantastic shots – love all those lavenders!

  3. Crazyyyyy beautiful shots! The weather might not be great, but at least it makes for some very moody/interesting photos! This is probably my favorite phone booth photo I’ve ever seen- also the one of the sealion’s head peeping out of the water is ace!!

  4. Oh you rebel! I understand why that have that rule in place, but I’m sure that the sea otters didn’t mind. Love your leading photo! It reminded me of a VanGogh painting. I also liked the photo of the sea lion peeking out of the swirling water. Well done!
Cal is going to be a heartbreaker 🙂
Wishing you better weather, but not too great because moody skies make for great photos!
    Have an awesome week!

  5. We can’t do much about the weather, can we. Except starting to take it seriously and change our destruction of Mother Earth. I love you picture, particularly the ones taken at the aquarium. The one of the phone boot, though, is the best, both humorous and sad.

  6. Aw, y’all are too cute.
The first photos do look a little grayer than your usual.
The underwater one with the colourful strands, whatever it is, reminds me of a fraggle!
